I think this is being taken out of context by some guys. I don't THINK these guys TRULY believe they have the exclusive right to fish the stuff they drop for all time
. I think they just feel a bit bummed when they pull up to a hole they spent sweat and money to put out and someone else is fishing it. Nothing more, just like "Aw man....dang!" And I don't blame them.

Just like someone else stated earlier but it wasn't talked about enough. There are public deer woods all over. What if you built a ground blind, (most WMA's wont let you keep a real stand in a tree) spent COUNTLESS hours scouting to make it in the right spot then went and built it out of natural vegetation. You plan on hunting it one of the few days you have off work. You drive out there, sneak to the stand only to find some guy sitting in it. You talk to him and he says, "yeah, I stumbled on this thing while flying over the wma in my helicopter that has this new technology that thru infared can detect disturbed brush and vegetation!" "I figured some guy built it and had done his homework so I said, why bother doing it myself!" "Yep, got in here early and beat the sapsucker to it!!"

I really don't see the difference. The guy who built it will surely not say "Wow, infared huh? You are so cool! Maybe I'll get one someday! Oh well, enjoy the blind, good luck and hey, I installed a makeshift roof from palmettos if it starts to rain, it's behind the blind.....just so ya know!"
Heck no! He's GONNA be disappointed. So would you. I think this finders keepers rule may be overstretching common courtesy and ethics a bit.
    Just my thoughts.

I put in brush and If I find someone else's, I'll fish it too. That cat that put it in has probably found some of mine because We know where to put them in and use the same areas and have the same thinking. It is public water and If some stranger was good enough to find My spot then He is good enough to fish it. The same for Me. It's all fair game once it sinks out of site. I don't like it When I see someone else on my spot because I'm afraid He'll tell everyone but that is part of it and no need to get ugly about it. No need to go crowd the spot either. Let Him fish it. Go put out more. Oh yeah, If you see people spider rigging, they have probably hung up in your spot and know about it anyway. CF

some people will never understand the difference between what you can do and what you should do. There is nothing better than taking the time to locate a good area, place brush, and prove yourself right.

I don't think its so much the ownership problem but an issue with attitude. Maybe its the way it was stated but i thought the same thing.

"I was going to put some stuff in the shallow water but I found a bunch of someone elses with my SI so why bother" To this I say if you were going to put some in why not do that elsewhere?? maybe he did and just didn't state it.

I have no problem going to my home lake and seeing someone fishing an area then after they leave going to take a look. If I find some structure I fish it or mark it and try the next trip. The reason I have no problem with fishing that spot that maybe the guy just left put in is:

    1) Its a public lake
    2) I add structure myself
    3) I help the state with their structure drops

Do I get pizzed when someone is on "my" brush - no - disappointed - yes if I was planning on fishing it at that time. That's why I have several of "my" brush sets in the lake.

I think it boils down to character or lack there of..if you find the structure on your own its fair game. If I watched someone putting in structure, then I fish that structure, then I am lacking in character in my opinion. And I know its not going to happen with me.

When someone wins 3 grand off one of your piles and he is local it will piss a guy off. my thoughts are more directed towards the guys that spend alot of time at the lake but dont put in the work.

My biggest gripe is when I pull off a place and the genius goes right over there or sits there rubber necking me. I have always said I wouldn't stop to look at a place if I had seen a boat there, but I am really sick of it happening to me. I would rather fish the places I have found on my own.....however it got there.
