If it's a lake that you own, then you have a right to complain. If it's public water, you don't have anything to say. With side imaging, anyone can find "your structure" which at the point when you drop it in the lake is "everyone's" structure. This argument seems to come up periodically.
I've put out my fair share of PVC structures on Truman. Did I ever think that I own it, or would I get mad if people were fishing it, NO.
Nimrod, do you threaten people who found your stuff and fish it, or bully them off of the spot? People have to get over that mentality.
Ask canepole about it. He's even got a rangefinder so he can pinpoint where you are.
kinda sounds like the difference between a wife and a girlfriend....or maybe if you knew she was with someone else or you just happened to find her. If I see someone on one of MY hard earned places, TWICE, it becomes an eating place and I will burn it every time I'm near it. I refuse to enjoy seeing someone else on top of my girlfr,,,,I mean brushpile. on the other hand, I do find a lot of stuff that I'm sure wasn't grown there. It all evens out.
maybe i am wrong but... anything you or i put in any public lake is FAIR GAME fella. if you sink a brushpile in your own swimming pool i promise i won't fish it!!! MAN... sometimes you hear something and it just strikes a nerve. bottom line is that its public knowledge after you drop it , thats the price you pay for trying to have your own honey holes.i wish it were that easy here in virginia to just load up the boat with pvc, christmas trees, cinderblocks, and bamboo. just my two cents but if i see you fishin' and catching in the middle of the lake i will wait for you to leave , find and mark your spot and return next fishing trip to fish the spot if its seasonally correct. i apologize for being brash because i am sure i probably took the last post the wrong way .... and i'm a nobody here on this board.

Well we have folks that have been offered the chance to help build to turn us down. Then move in and take over what we put in. It just rubs us the wrong way even thought we can't do much about it. When it gets to where they follow and go as far as to mark your spots. Have been know to go out to fish a spot and find a jug tied there and a boat on it every morning. About like someone following you to your deer stand and trying to get there first the next morning.

I Had Some Fellows Always Looking For My Brush. So I Started Marking Them With Coke Bottles On A String For Them. Then After A Couple Of Weeks I Move The Bottle About 20 Yards. I Found That If They Are To Lazy To Build Their Own Brush Then They Are To Lazy To Hunt Around For The Brush. They Just Keep Fishing Around The Bottle That They Think Is Marking The Spot. Lol Doesnt Always Work But A Lot Of The Time It Does.
i laughed for quite a while after reading the coke bottle thing!!!! i didn't mean to offend just felt like adding my 2 cents. you guys are verry correct about how much time and effort it takes to construct and place these attractors. people who fish around a bootle just because remind me of the little green guys on fraggle rock!! cool trick .i can understand if you have a line on the water just to fish one brushpile!! i have to say thanks to all you guys for contributing here on this board because it is a huge help and a wealth of information and great ideas.
thanks

Anybody who burns a spot, whatever that means, is probably willing to do more. Get over it. Nobody has to help you put structure in to have the right to find yours and fish it. I'm not sure where this mentality comes from, but it's backwards.
Are you trying to improve the habitat for the crappie, so they can grow bigger, or are you trying to have your own private spot that you think you Own a deed to because you spent your time putting it out. You can pop bottle whatever you want, and anybody with A humminbird SI unit will laugh at you while they are fishing your structure.
Nice technique too Bigfish. Why don't you trash up the lake while your at it. And hopefully it's one of the small bottle that some people won't see, and the string will get into someone's prop and do a couple hundred dollars damage. You seem like a guy that's really looking out for his fellow man. Hat's off to you big guy.
Every time this comes up I'm really surprised at the calibur of the people who'll go to any length to stop people from fishing the crap they drop in. Last year people were talking about carrying guns.
I'd love to watch a guy pull up his brush pile and move it. Great idea.
Buy some land, put a pond on it, and fill the pond in with brush. Then it's yours. If you can't do that, carry a box of tissue in your boat.
