Default Placing structure for winter fishing

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I've been crappie fishing for years but never tried fishing any later than November anyway this yr I've been making brush piles and stakebeds and they are producing my question is where would I need to place them for winter fishing crappie? I was thinking deep like 20ft plus but I don't know any ideas I'd appreciate it thanks in advance

Depends on the water body . Here our lakes have mostly under 10' with areas over 20 . I have caught fish in 6' of water in middle of winter .

If you are on Kentucky Lake as your handle suggests, 20-25ft at winter pool or 354msl is a pretty good bet for winter fish.

I’m new to making structures (haven’t done it yet). How are you making them? What’s your favorite?

Sorry just now getting back to you. I like to put mine next to a curve in a creek channel either on a the main lake or in bays. Mine seem to produce if the fish have deep water nearby but out of the current.

All good! I don’t really have much of creek channel at the closest lake. Would points or points near ledges work?

8 FT-12 FT at winter pool is very productive until the water temp drops below 45, at least that's my experience. But sometimes they can still be good, especially on a sunny day.
