    Default Man in green

Me and my dad was stopped from putting out any more reed piles in lake sinclair, I guess a fellow skier saw us and did not like us putting out fish shelters and called the game warden on us, we have been putting out these piles for 20 years or so, never saw any restrictions on it or anything, man in green only warned us to not put any more out, said it was dumping trash in the lake.

Hmmm at least you didn’t get a ticket but trash? Hmmm. Did you ask if there was a state regulation or way to obtain permission to put out cover?

There was a lake down here the homeowners were lobbying against the waves a bass boat throws. Said the ski boats were not the problem. Idiots I say.

Even though it may be technically illegal, if nobody complained and Green had seen you, he probably would have looked the other way.

Who owns the lake? Power Company? COE? I'd look towards them for permission/rules. I'm fortunate enough that I've got a good personal relationship with one of our local wardens, and shot him a text message to double check. He told me as long as Duke (power company) didn't care, they didn't care, and it was usually a common sense thing.

Most COE, State Dept of Wildlife and/ or State Department of Parks are at very least willing to consider granting formal permits/ permission so long as you respect their restrictions and conditions involving placing them. Know that several times in the past these State and/ or Federal agencies have actively participated in placing various types of fish attractor projects in many locations…

It wasn’t that at all, just some people on the lake that are skiers, did not it in the lake no matter where it was. And jealous that they cannot catch crappie, themselves, so they figured they would call the man on those who can, and yes lake is owned by Ga Power Company, but no longer generate power on the lake, it was a coal burning plant that was shut down 15 years ago.

Lake manager controls what can and can't be added to the lake. In this case it's GA Power. I would contact them for an answer.
We have the COE big 4 lakes in north MS. Lake managers will set up a date for habitat and will be working with MDWFP. If at another date you wish to build habitat you have to get permission from the manager. What you will be putting in the lake and where.
Ross Barnett in Jackson, MS is owned by Pearl River Water Ass. Written permit for what's being put out and where. PVC/plastic only.

Sounds like you need to go incognito. I put four in last weekend, in less than 30min, before the sun came up. I had my spots planned, I had the brush prepped. All I had to do was attach sand bags and drop on pre-determined locations.
