    Default Tree Tops

Has anyone used tree tops or limbs tied in a concrete block, with a soda bottle in the middle to keep it up right?.
I think I'm gonna try a few of these if they work, it will be cheaper than pvc
and quickcrete. What do ya''ll think?.

I think any kind of standing structure would be better than something lying flat on the bottom.

Well, they will sink easier if you do. What I do is use ceder trees. Let them dry a few weeks, get a hose at hand, light fire to them to burn the needles and smallest limbs then wet down with hose. Makes them a little thinner and gets rid of a lot off the "springy" limbs that are so darn hard to get unhung from. Have only done a few myself, but have been told of this by more experianced folks that swear by it. Don't know for myself but hope to find out this weekend.

When we do trees ,it's Persimmon . Set a concrete block on the deck and lay trees across it . Tie with wire to block. Hope fully the block will hold it off the bottom a little. The fish seen to like to be along the trunks ,just off the bottom here. Our best fishing most of the year is 6' to 10' of water. But in deep water we have used jugs to hold some tops up some.

One of the most productive trees I hit last year was a maple with all the leaves still on and sunk standing upright. Seemed to reload quickly. Was always better in the afternoon though. Usually good for at leas 7 fish with 23 being the best.

My guess is leave the leaves:D

Hey Chief, try this. Tie your brush to the middle of a wood stake or piece of pvc pipe. Drive it into the lake bottom. Then you have your brush suspended off the bottom. I have done some this way, but they haven't been in the water long enough for them to attract fish. I am using hickory and oak limbs off some trees that died in my yard from the drought. Also you can use trimmings from your hedges and shrubs. Good luck. I think I would leave the leaves on them. Fish seem to come to them quicker.

We leave the leafs on the trees, that will give more shade. We have put out trees and catch fish off them the next day. Good luck.
