    1 gallon should be enough to hold them down. The COE fills 1 gallon commercial flowerpots about 3/4 full with a metal loop for our anchors.
    Put a screw in the trunk close to bottom so the trees will anchor better.

    Those cedars have all the small branches down low. Thought about trimming them and letting them act like the screw to hold em down. Thats my thought anyway

    Live green cedars tend to be long lasting in cooler semi infertile waters particularly farther North. In warmer semi fertile to fertile warmer waters they tend to be consumed faster by the lower food chain members but can still last 2- 5X longer than a similarly sized Norway Spruce placed right next to it at the same time. And don’t get me started on orange orange ( hedge apple ), mulberry, black locust and or ash…

    Ive got more honey locust, hedge, cedar, ash, and pecan than youbcan shake a stick at. Thr entire bottom of my pond isbhedge piles withva few cedar for good measure.
