1 gallon should be enough to hold them down. The COE fills 1 gallon commercial flowerpots about 3/4 full with a metal loop for our anchors.

Live green cedars tend to be long lasting in cooler semi infertile waters particularly farther North. Ive got more honey locust, hedge, cedar, ash, and pecan than youbcan shake a stick at. Thr entire bottom of my pond isbhedge piles withva few cedar for good measure.
