Now remember, I said this was allegedly happening in Texas. You know what they say, "Everthing's bigger in Texas". I would think they would have big enough boats to handle this task.:DOriginally Posted by FishnLine
You got that right. My boat wouldn't even hold it.Originally Posted by Big W

One place here is on a bayou that's not real wide, but gets deep close to the bank. A man supposedly rolled them down a steep hill at the back of his pasture. I think it was old hay he was trying to get rid of and that seemed like a logical place to put them. They don't stick up out of the water and I've fished there, but I didn't do any good and even though I hung some stuff there and saw it on the graph, I don't know for sure it's hay. I just heard it was.

i have herd of putting peanut hay in ponds to darken the water so the moss wan`t grow .if the round bales in shallow water it will look like a island with all the seed starts sprouting. have herd they will float around .
retired and now i will always fish
I have tried this with one square bale of hay. My boat could not carry enought weight to sink the hay , so i tried half a bale no luck , so i tried two blocks off the bale in a big onion sack and with the weight i had I got it sunk. I do alot of baleing hay and it is hard to sink. For the fishing it was great, but not as good as a ceder tree sunk root side down. I fish Navarro Mills , Richland Chambers, and Ceder Creek here in Texas. Good luck
I am a disabled vet here in Texas 50 south of Dallas . I fish richland chamber , ceder creek , and navarro mills. come see us.
Alfalfa hay bails are the best for fish attracting. That kind of hay promotes the growth of plakton better than any other hay.
Sinking alfalfa ought to be illegal~. Unless it was bad.
I saw a big round bale 'get away' from the loader and it sort of rolled & bounced into their pond, it bobbed around for about a week. They could not get it out and it took a long time to sink. Never heard if the fishing improved.
What makes a better lightning rod than a graphite fishing rod? NOTHING!
The square bils works good. You just have to wet them down good so they won't float off. I fish one dock that had a bail of hay under it, you don't get hung up and crappie love it.
how much weight would you need to hold that rascal?Originally Posted by Big W
