I would place them on the edge and if their is a point coming out anywhere. Points are usually always good.
I am making some stake buckets for a local lakes and can't decide on where to place them. There is one deep hole about 25' deep in it and the rest of the lake is from 9'-3'. The deep hole is about a 200'-200' square. I can't decide on whether I should place them in the hole or out on the edge?

Tried the hole and putting around edges of one similar but no luck. Better luck putting in the 9 fow in a long row

Some lakes are different, here we have a shallow lake with a deep channel . The average depth is about 8' and we seldom sink anything deeper . We have an low oxygen problem alot of the year and fish tend to stay above the thermocline . When we have one it is about 8' . Best spots here are contours, drop offs , points , or basically any change in depth .
as has been offered many lakes are different and often even a single larger lake has different types of terrain beneath its surface. if you are able to fish all year this effects the spots to drop on. dropping in rows from deep to shallow with a PVC attractor the deepest has had very good success as has dropping attractors suitably weighted on windward shores, points, old roadbed drainage culverts and drainage pipes, stumps, building foundations or better yet remains of basements, ect are all potentially excellent targets... do keep in mind that the thermocline sets up deeper in winter months so investing" a few for cold weather can be very productive long term. enjoy !
