Default Laminate floor scraps for stake bed?

Do you think 4 inch laminate floor slats would work for crappie beds? I have a pile from redoing my floors. They are a little on the thin side but I think they may work. Any thoughts?

Don't see where they would not work. Give them a try and let us know how they did.

I would cut off a small piece and put it in a bucket of water and see what happens before I went to the trouble of making beds just to have them fall apart on you. A lot of times the laminate flooring is made out of fibers that are glued and pressed together. When water hits it , it tends to fall apart. In your case I hope I'm wrong. Let us know what you find out.

You can go to the laminate manufacturer online and find the MSDS sheet to know the types of materials used and whether they are poisonous

When I was the Installation Manager of a Big-Box HIW store not a week would go by when we did not get a complaint that a laminate floor we had installed was ruined by water. The biggest cause was folks using rubber clothes washer hoses that burst. Not one of the manufacturers would warranty water damage as ALL of them state in the "Terms and Conditions" that water damage was NOT covered. Even the big $ ones like Pergo would not. The back of most of laminates is a cardboard like substructure that soaks up water and then swells. The top (wear surface) of most is no more than a vinyl sheet mere microns thick.

I do not think that Laminate Flooring would make good crappie structure.

    No surprise there.
Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen. Formaldehyde is being used as glue (industrial resin) in laminate wood flooring and particle board. Think about that for a moment.
