depth finder ? Trolling always helps me find brush .lol Even though it is a pain hanging up I mark with hand held and onboard unit . You will get better every trip .
there is lake exactly one mile from my house that has bass and crappie and brim. I have caught all three species so I know they are there. but there is no wood blowdowns or stumps anywhere. There are weeds and Lillie pads but none of that classic crappie cover. I use a kayak with no electronics. Where I do begin my search for crappie? How do I plot a strategy other than blind casting? I can find the bass and brim easy enough, but the crappie are way more difficult to locate.
Help!

look at the lake on Google Earth. find inflows, outflows, sand bars/ shallow water and deeper water near by. OR you can start placing your own and GPSing it as it goes in...
Google earth will let you look back at previously scanned images. look for 1 with low water to search the shoreline for cover.
There might be something your missing!
Some shallow lakes Crappie use weeds as cover .

if weeds are all there is... a small used fish finder and motorcycle battery can give a kayaker a huge advantage.
