Knowing your set-up, I don't think this is a good idea....you would be better served by sinking dog food in burlap bags, or adding alfalfa bails to attract more forage.
Crappie are SERIOUS live food predators, and one of the harder fish to get to eat pellets....then when you do get them finally eating pellets, they become lazy and only want them....so you're always walking a fine line. With feeders, you will also start to bring in Cats, and other fish, that start stressing the Crappie ecosystem!
Like I told you before...it is much better to build the food system for Crappie...that will keep them growing in your area.

Yep...try the food, put about a pound in smaller burlap bags, tie a small block to it and sink by or in small fish cover....the food will dissolve and only feed small fish through the gaps in the burlap.
Alfalfa will do the same....wrap a Bale in chicken wire attach blocks and sink! Way less $$$, hassle, mess, and problems!

This fish feeder is NOT for the squiemish but here goes... a friend`s dad whom lives in the country has a pond and has 3 posts with metal trash can lids with many 1/2 holes drilled in them nailed on top of them set about 6 feet from the bank. The lids in turn have hinged covers to keep out birds. His dad will open them up and place various deceased animal remains on them with a PVC pipe with several screws in it during the spring, summer and fall. They of course attract flies which reduce the remains and the resulting maggots tend to regularly fall into the water where the fish INSTANTLY snap them up ! While they do tend to smell a bit fishing with a wax worm around them tends to out weigh the aroma they emit. Have caught some ENORMOUS 12- 14" bluegills around them as well as a decent 5 pd bass ! Cheap and about "fool proof" so long as you can stand to reload it...

    Hey Lowell
I'll show you Pictures of Josh's setup AT THE BREAKFAST this Saturday, and you'll understand what I'm talking about...the way he has built the shoreline, dock area, fish house area (inside and out), and the deep water area is fantastic...if he starts doing feeders like that, he is gonna pull in fish that he doesn't really want in his ecosystem!
