Default Changing my way about brush piles

I used to take a day to set out brush piles when I had time . After thinking on this I will be striving to take anything if nothing but a few limbs or a Christmas tree each time I go fishing . So what if I don;t get a big pile made in one trip . Several trips will just make them bigger and even if I don't go back to fish those small piles it will help in the long run . I plan on marking them on the gps just in case I come by that way again , I'll add a little at a time .If I put enough limbs in one spot or several spots I'll have some big piles . It's not like I don't have room each time i go fishing for something to make it better .

We have done that for years . I like to build lots of pallet or bucket stake beds and have them ready for each trip to the lake . Also have concrete blocks and zip ties ready to build brush piles handy . It does'nt take big piles anyway . I find on heavily fished waters it is better to have lots of smaller spots than a few big ones . We build them in rows of piles about 100' apart on a drop off or contour line . We sometimes have as many as 10 close enough to use trolling motor to fish them all . We call these milk runs .

Our lake is smaller (around 2500 acres), first it is illegal to put out cover, and if your caught with anything in your boat (limbs, etc) you can be fined...and second, if you take cover out in the daytime everyone can see you, locate, and fish it!
So we always dropped cover under the "veil of darkness" or Zero-Dark-Thirty! That way "Only the Shadow Knows" where we put it!

We had a couple MASSIVE cover drops and word got out....Several people who weren't going to help, all decided they were going to come out at 8am (planned time) to see where we dropped it and GPS the locations so they could fish the cover that was meant for the lake!
I heard about their plan and called all the guys who were working on the Project....we all showed up in the darkness and had the entire Project sunk before anyone showed up!

Like I've said many times...if done right and placed right, "round pipe" pvc or Milk Crate cover cannot be found with electronics...when it is sanded deep with 60 grit, and gets a good strong colony of algae on, it's almost as good as wood but lasts forever! And it's less messy and easier to deal with!

I put a post up the other day about the science behind using Plastic....I'll stand behind my previous statements at least at OUR lake...BUT, you will see a group of fish that look like they are suspending around nothing! ...Even this is not an issue because we have so many Bait-balls of shad swimming around now!

A couple of our member's are Tourney Fishermen and have the best that money can buy, and they know how to use them! We use their electronics to "see" and choose our locations to hide cover! Without the GPS locations that a few of us have, no one could ever find it to see how well they are doing and holding fish.

Our Lake is Very Fertile and Heavily colored....dense water...reflective properties
Algae grows and flourishes easily....suspended particles....algae on PVC absorbs radar and sonar
PVC is close the same density of water (+/- a few hundredths or tenths)....fish bladders, wood, 'boo, rocks, etc., show up because they have a big difference in density than water.
Rounded Plastic....sheds, does not allow electronics to bounce back
You can put holes in it....even more absorption, allows beams to pass Through!

All of this with vertical plastic tubes, pipes, etc., AND PROPER PLACEMENT, leads to NO or Very Small signatures....you could "See" it with a Camera, but our water is way to colored for that even to be possibly. This is just CHEAP "Stealth Technology" used for cover to defeat electronics!

I like the way you are doing these . Going to do some like this.. I usually only make 4 or 5 a year and just fish the ones I find that other people make but I need more of my own ,,,Deep ones and some shallow ones and some on drops . I like the name you got there .....milk runs , thanks

Agree whole heartedly ! A few added each trip ADDS up ! As for what Sir Intimidator has said the very 1st year the State and COE allowed us to place cover and NOT to have to make it "Public knowledge" a guy showed up and launched his boat saying that we had NO "right" to hide our attractors in HIS lake ! So after a brief huddle exactly at 8AM 6 boats took off in 6 different directions ! He marked a few and as we finished he DEMANDED to know where EVERYONE of them was ! We all laughted and told him "They're in CJ Brown Reservoir, you didn`t lift a finger to actually help us so go FIND them ! HA ! HA ! HA !" He was not amused...
