Default Need help setting up a deep water lake.

Hey guys this is my first post, not sure if this has been asked or not but here goes.
I live in Jacksonville fl and live on a 12 acre round lake depths almost 35ft
From the bank it slowly goes to about 6ft then strait down.
    The water is crystal clear
There Is a lot of specs in it my neighbor puts them in there every year for the past 10 years.
But there is absolutely no structure for them to school up on
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well buddy...the first thing you need to do is to provide plenty of cover for their food.
A Crappie pond is a Bear to take care of and manage...BUT, IT CAN BE DONE!

Crappie are voracious predators...the reason they stunt, is they eat up all of the available forage and then are left to mainly eating insects and their own fry after they spawn.
First you need to put as much "Lay-down" cover as possible in the shallows, between the bank and the drop-off. You can use branches, 'boo, shrubs, Christmas trees, stacked UNTREATED wooden pallets, etc.! If you need to stock minnows, etc., now is the time to do it.

THE WHOLE REASON THAT THIS WILL WORK, IS THAT YOU PROVIDE ENOUGH FOOD FOR THE CRAPPIE TO GROW, AND THEN YOU HARVEST PLENTY OF CRAPPIE TO KEEP THE BALANCE!

Then start adding cover for the Crappie...limbs in buckets, "boo in buckets, milk crate stumps, pvc in buckets, etc! There are plenty of pictures in other threads on this forum...or when you're ready we can post more!

    Thanks for the reply.
Issue with the shallow cover is I only own 75ft of lake front and I have a dock.
That's where the wife swims. But I could hang some on the drop off I'm sure

You can put cover anywhere then, just to congregate the Crappie! Anything will work, plenty of pics on the other threads.

Put cover under your dock out of the way they love the shade . Also try weighting brush on a cable to hang over the big drop off around the lake .

I have caught Crappie well over 30' at times in some lakes that actually have deeper water .

Pardon my asking but WHOM exactly manages the pond and do they fish? If so this might be easy...) How steep are the slopes beyond the 1st break at 6 fow ? Is there a 2cnd/ 3rd break before the deepest point ? Are there humps and/ or islets? Talk with your neighbors and see how many fish and might want to conspire...uh, I mean "plan" this with you...
