    Hey Scrat
First of all, are you going to put these close together???
I ask because I made bucket trees with .5" PVC and the lack of Total SURFACE Area of the cover itself, led to it only holding a couple Smaller fish....I went back and added other cover and wood and the "bunch of cover" held ALOT more fish.

Maybe take 1 set out and in a couple days check with your electronics to see how it is doing...they you may want to put it all alot tighter together, so it will hold more fish...I would hate to see you spread it out and it only hold 2 fish per piece, if you can put it together and hold a whole school!
    Just thinking out loud!

Thanks for all the replies and ideas. I am open to all suggestions on how to place these. And would like to thank everyone in advance Thanks. I can not take credit for this because I found it on youtube here is the site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o51xIDwMGkg
I changed some of the ways that I made mine by using a solid block of wood 4"x6"x6" I also drilled middle hole all the way through with 7/8" bit and used a 4' pipe to hold bricks in the middle with a 1/2" pvc T glued to hold them on instead of the string he used. I also used small nails to make sure the pipes stayed in until I sink them then I don't think it will come apart. Now that I have had some suggestions on how many to sink together and thanks again. I am going to put 4 about 6' apart in one place that I caught my most crappie in 12' water out from a point and 3 about 6' apart in two different places one in 8" and the other in 19' water that I also have caught fish. This is a reservoir that doesn't have very much cover for fish. I am going to use my handheld gps to find spot that i drop these because I was told that they are hard to see on fish finders. If these work I am going to make more and if they need more than 3 and 4 in places I will add more. The deepest place in this reservoir is 30' with most of it 4' to 12'. As far as sanding all that pipe I think I will do that on my next ones when all the pipe are in 20' sections also this is thin wall 1/2" pvc pipe $2.72 @ piece and is not real slick like the thicker expensive sc40 pipe. Please let me know any more suggestions. And the one that wanted to know drill bit sizes 13/16" spade bit for tight fit and 7/8" spade bit for the center hole that I put all the way through to hold bricks as weight.

They look good. And to only have 6$ invested that's even better. Bass Pro has some for sale and they want 59$ for just one small section

Sir Intimidator is right; used with LONG LASTING hard wood attractors (cedar, ash, hickory, mulberry, OSAGE ORANGE (hedge apple), locust, ect) with your beautifully crafted PVC types on the deeper ends these will hold BIG predators that will cruise the shallower natural stuff...the shallow to deep rows with these PVC `anchors` on the deeper ends are clearly the BEST we have ever done, by far...btw, even though PVC is usually almost invisible to most sonars, the fish you hope to attract are NOT.

I made a copy of a drawing to help make these fish habitats. I hope it loads up as I am not very computer skilled and it takes me forever to type things as my typing is called (hunt and peck). I will put some different habitat with these like fishing cane and bamboo that I have access too. Thanks for all the help from everyone on how to place and with other structure to use. Any other ideas is appreciated. Now as for wood for middle of these plans I used pinewood but any type wood would be fine.

Our conservation department puts out a few of these every year for kids fishing, but instead of the block of wood, they get old used bowling balls....no extra weight needed! I think they hang them from docks and they pull in lots of fish that kids can get to

Pine has the drawback that while it`s easy to work with it decays fairly steadily in about 10 yrs or less. Using locust, cedar or going completely overboard osage orange (hedge apple) they might last 25+ to perhaps 45+ yrs...

I have been sanding 1/2" pvc pipe this morning after reading your posts and others. It would have been a lot easier if I had sanded it while it was in whole 20' pieces. O well we learn from our mistakes. My grandson brought me a bunch of bricks to go on the bottom of my crappie condos. They were cheap because a friend of his gave them to him. He said his friend had a house built and they were just in his way. Now I just need to go and drop them out, maybe next week will be warmer weather. I am still wanting to hear more post about were and how to place and make crappie structure. Let me know what think and when you make some of these how they came out.
