Will the copper sulphate hurt the fish?

I've been using it for 2yrs now and haven't lost any fish. I put 2 cap fulls in a 5gal bucket of water to dissolve. Then I walk around and treat around the edge. My pond is clean with healthy bluegill population. I also use pond dye to color the water and also helps with moss. Can't say it enough read the directions. This has worked for me

There is a specific product that will kill the algae or moss in a pond or lake that is more effective than using the run of the mill copper sulphate. Copper sulphate or CuSO4 is comprised of 96.5% Cu+ a.k.a copper 1 ion and 2.5% Cu++ or copper 2 ion. The ion that kills the algae or moss is the copper 2 ion while the copper 1 is useless. The product is comprised of 100% copper 2 ion and is NSF approved.

Am NOT saying don`t use it at all. Some weeds are GOOD particularly for bass fry and juvenile fish. Use it SPARINGLY if at all...of course READ the directions and follow them erring on the side of CAUTION. I know of at least 2 small ponds that the owners inadvertently wiped completely out by just dumping more than a couple of bottles into them with NO idea of exactly what they were doing. The 1/2 acre pond was done 2 yrs ago and this yr it`s again supporting minnows. Jeff never did say how many bottles he poured into it but EVERYTHING in it died...on the `good` side he DID get rid of the weeds. Kind of like doing urban renewal with a 50 mega ton nuclear weapon...

My pond is 1 acre and I fill up a solo cup at a time and spread it. Usually 3 will treat mine. Just remember the more moss u have the more Oxegon its gonna consume when it dies and sinks. It's a simple trial and error process. Start off easy and c how it reacts

Agreed. USE CAUTION, and it`s far better to GRADUALLY increase the dosage over 2-3 day periods rather than pull a Jeff and pour 1/2 a bottle in and end up "nuking" it and everything in it. He had 3 NICE bass float up plus a pair of walleyes I added without him knowing it figuring he`s be surprised as well as just EVERYTHING else. It stank to High Heaven for a couple of weeks...remember at least a 1st a LITTLE can go a LONG WAYS...
