Unsure what your calling cane. We have small river cane here, may not last as long but should still hold fish.

    Default cane "boo buckets"

Around here we call the river cane- bamboo. When I saw the first boo bucket picture on crappie.com it was like a light bulb was turned on. So simple. I finally dropped a couple and am making a couple more. Cane is everywhere in these south east missouri swamps.

I also put out cane and what I have seen is that my shorter buckets stay in better shape than the taller ones. I figured that the taller cane gets slimed up and breakes over within a couple years while the shorter bears the weight better.
