Default 1 gallon antifreeze jugs for base with pvc?

I get several 1 gallon antifreeze bottles at work every week. Can I cut the side out of them and us as base to make pvc structure?

I wouldn't think it was big enough, not enough weight to hold it up right. I would use a 3 to 5 gallon buckets if possible. Thats what i use. But that gallon jug would be good to tie in the top of some brush to hold it up off the bottom. I use a lot of jugs for that purpose.

Ive seen other pvc trees on here with small bases, thought the antifreeze jug would have a square base for support, plus can get free. The plan is to put small stubs of pvc with a union glued on the end of each. Have longer pvc branchs that can be glued up quick at the dump site. I might attach 3 jugs together before dumping, they should hold each other up. Im trying to find an easy way to add structure from a 14ft jon boat.

Default Here is what I came up with.

Here is my pvc structure poured in antifreeze jugs. I put 2 spikes threw the jugs to join them together, used coat hangers and attached to spikes to make a loop to lower. When I got to the lake, I put one side together and attached some willow branches I cut at work, then the other side and some willow. Got positioned where I wanted and lowered it down. When it got settled, I tied to rod holder and marked gps. Pulled my rope out and moved to the next one. Put all 4 in tonight after work. Only had an hour of light left so didnt get better pics.

save the money on all those fittings. Place the pipe in the cement all standing straight up. Take one of those small torches with you and when you get to the spot, use the torch to put a bend in all the sticks and you will come out ahead IMO.

I couldnt remember how to mark a way point on my handheld gps and was running out of day light, I just wrote info in notebook and on map. I didnt even run back over them to see if I could find them on FF, but I will know where they are when I start catching fish over them.

Ill try the torch and see how I like that. The gray conduit pvc has a bell end on each piece so that saved a little. Contracter pack of couplers is $2 for 10. But it all adds up. Thanks
