Drill 7/8" holes around the sides and push 10' pieces of pvc pipe thru the holes. Add some gravel or concrete and sink. You have a stump or a root wad now that doesn't rot.
I have a very large supply of 15 gallon plastic barrels. They're 2 feet tall and about 14 inches in diameter. What can I do with them? I've thought about drilling a bunch of 1/2 inch holes all over and then putting some weight in the bottom. All of the holes in the barrel would allow it to provide safety to minnows, etc. Maybe drop them in 4-5 feet of water to simulate a stump? Or would I be better off to make a large version of CanePole's coffee can structure?
Thoughts?
Here's a picture of the barrels.

I was thinking the same thing. Add some short pieces of PVC to it and leave some holes open. run the PVC in at an angle then pour n some crete. Then you have a stump with some brush
What was in those barrels?
Wish I Had Some
I had thought about sticking PVC through them. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a supply of free/cheap PVC pipe. Due to the poor housing market, there's just not much scrap around right now....at least in my neck of the woods.

Add Boo to the barrels...
Just build it and they will come.......
