Default Brisket Slaw Burgers - Seasoned Potatoes - Fried Mushrooms

Let's get this out of the way, WARNING SuperDave - DON'T LOOK! CLOSE YOUR COMPUTER, THIS POST MAY BE PAINFUL IF YOU CONTINUE TO READ.

I know he absolutely hates Mushrooms but we love them. I don't know how to proceed.

So lately we have been trying different Walmart house brand foods, not because we need to but because as we experiment away from the name brands more and more often the Walmart products are really improving. We have little to shop from here so we find ourselves shopping at Walmart mostly. I was wanting some hamburger, walked over to the area where it is, started reading the grades and these patties caught my eye. Well they taste just like a $15 hamburger in at a Steakhouse. these Buns are in a sealed package not just twist tied, they are awesome too. Who knew at Walmart. The 4 Brisket Burgers were about $10, not bad at all.

This Kinder's seasoning was liberally applied to one side then both sides of the burgers were rubbed with the garlic oil then allowed to rest till almost room temperature.

While the burger patties were warming up I washed, dried, and stemmed the Mushrooms then tossed them in a bowl with AP Flour for a good 15 minutes. While in the Flour I transferred the Mushrooms to a smaller bowl reusing the larger one for a egg wash. After egg washing each mushroom completely they went into my regular Zatarain's Seasoned Fish Fry. In the past I cooked them like Olive Garden would do and they were good. Well since the Bell Pepper Rings day I have been cooking my fried Vegetables in Fish Fry. If you fry flour coated products in your fish oil it turns the oil very dark for some reason. These were the best fried Mushrooms I ever made. I left them in the fish Fry for a full 15 minutes before dropping them in the 350 degree oil. Since they float you must watch them and keep them turned so cooking is even on both sides.

Ready to start cooking my task was to have everything on the table within the 14 minute time frame for the potatoes to cook. Easier to do if you wait till everything is hot. Preheating the Ninja to 360 degrees i put 1/2 the bag of Potatoes in without any attention paid to how they came out of the bag. At the 10 minute mark I dropped 1/2 the Mushrooms in the oil, at 7 minutes I put the Burgers on the grill. Also at 7 minutes I gave the potatoes a shake then returned them to cooking. 3-1/2 minutes I flipped the Burgers, pulled the first batch of Mushrooms but had already added the second. Both batches got 7 minutes in the oil. Times up, pulled the Burgers, turned off the Air Fryer, grabbed the Warmer Tray for the Potatoes which already had the first batch of Mushrooms. By the time we made our Hamburgers the second batch of Mushrooms were done so we were able to sit down with everything hot in about 16-17 minutes from starting.

I already knew your distaste for mushrooms SuperDave but the clip confirms it. I put a warning on the top of the thread to prevent you having any Nightmares last night. But just like Ray Stevens sang, "Don't Look Ethel" in The Streak, you had to look. Great clip.

These were the best coated, sealed, flavorful, fried mushrooms I ever made. The difference? Don't rush any step. Washing & Drying important, sitting in the AP Flour for at least 15 minutes important, fully wetting the entire mushroom with egg wash important, and letting them sit in the fish fry for 15 minutes important. I was doing other prep work, cleaning up behind myself, so the time lapses weren't holding me up. These kicked Restaurant Mushrooms down the road.

I'm sure they were really tasty if you like mushrooms. I've never cared for them personally. Taste, texture, squishy noise when you bite them.... not for me. I've picked many off and out of dishes to eat the good stuff.....lol.
