    Default Hushpuppies

I usually like other peoples hushpuppies but don't care for most of 'em in restaurants or when I make 'em. Any great recipes including onions and maybe jalapenos?

I usually cook a bunch when I make em so here goes:

1/2 bag of House Altree hush puppy mix(with or without onion, up to you)
    2 eggs
3/4 of cold beer(your choice) drink the rest
    3 tablespoons of diced jalapenos

Mix well & fry about 2 mins, flip fry 1-2 more mins
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"

Go check out the Mississippi Off Topic board, we have a recipe thread there and my puppy recipe is there. Most folks that don;t even like them, love mine. BTW, in place of jalapenos IF you like hot stuff, fine dice some habeneros and put in there YUMMMM

OK - better recipe with used oil - like maybe after frying all the fillets? I could fry some HP's first, then the fish, then more puppies in the same oil, just to taste the difference.

Way back in the 70s we were waiting outside a popular seafood rest. in Murrell's Inlet, SC for a table. We saw a delivery truck in back unloading supplies. I asked what kind of breading and hushpuppy mix did they buy. They told me they only use House Autry. Been using it ever since. Using beer instead of water makes the hushpuppies lighter and crunchier. http://www.house-autry.com/
If you go to their site, they got a lot of recipes, including the hushpuppy ones.

I love the ones wal mart sales. Usually in seafood section. Clear bag. Best if u let them thaw for 30 minutes then cook.
