Go to 'Wally World' and get Southern Bisquit Formula L Restaurant style Bisquit mix and a qt of buttermilk, in 15 minutes you will have 8 of the best bisquits you've ever tried, took years to settle on this one.--try it you'll like it.--shu

Shuorc, I think you are right. I've been trying for years to master biscuits. That Southern Biscuit mix is good stuff.

This is the recipe I use all the time. It's from the 1956 edition of the Betty Crocker cookbook. It really doesn't take long to make them and if you don't have a rolling pin, you can pat them out.

Sift together the following: 2 cups all purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt. With a pastry cutter or a fork, cut in 6 tbsp shortening or butter. Stir in 2/3 cup buttermilk. Dough should be soft, if it's too dry add a little more buttermilk. Turn out onto flour covered board and knead lightly. Don't overwork the dough or the biscuits won't be tender. Roll out about 1/2 inch thick and cut. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 425 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
