Went to Beluah about 40 something years ago. I had a 12' Barrentine boat with a 9.9 Evinrude. My motor wasn't running at the time and my boss told me to use his 10 hp Johnson. It was what I call a high stack motor. Anyway when I launched at Browns landing and I pulled the rope to start it somehow it jumped in gear. It didn't crank but it sputtered. Well the motor had turned so it dipped the corner of the boat and water started coming in. Boat filled up with water so I bailed out but stayed with the boat. Water was about 4' deep. Got the boat back to the bank but everything but my poles went to the bottom. Battery for side mounted, hand control trolling motor on the bottom. Didn't want to fool with anything after that. I went back a couple days later with a garden rake to see if I could recover anything. A fellow ask me what was I doing. I told him that I didn't think I was gonna get to go back fishing for a while so I threw my minnows in but I got to come back so I was looking for my minnows.
