LEARN ONE TECHNIQUE AT A TIME .
Be persistent and don't be afraid to try new things if you aren't getting bit.
Float and fly can be hot from the bank in spring. Find the depth the fish like and slowly reel the bait in and let the fun begin. The most important it never hurts to throw some back to to sire the next generation. Take time to enjoy the day.

Read, ask questions, watch videos, and go fishing as often as you possible.
To catch fish consistently, it is best to understand, that catching fish is "NOT" luck.
Have fun.

Some of the worst winter weather brings some of the best crappie fishing. This one is my personal best at just 2 ounces shy of 3lbs. 16.5 inch fish. Weather was cold and rainy, just a degree or two above freezing. Wind was howling with 14" waves on the lake. Caught allot of fish that night and the lake all to myself.

catching fish is "NOT" luck.
Knowledge...read (and watch videos) everything you can on crappie fishing techniques, crappie habitat and habits, etc. and then apply when you go fishing. If someone is catching fish and your not, ask questions...I have learned several techniques that have put fish in the boat consistently by asking other fishermen questions.
And lastly GO FISHING as much as possible, nothing beats actually learning what catches fish on a day to day basis than experience.
For the Everlasting Glory of the Infantry.
Read everything that you can on CRAPPIE.COM
You will learn a ton of information. If you are new, start small and don't go buy everything that is out. I would start with a simple rod and reel, nothing fancy.
Fish with minnows until you get the hang of catching.
When jigging, raise your rod tip very slow about an inch at a time and wait for a hit.
