The very best advise to give someone starting out crappie fishing is to HAVE FUN!!!!! No matter if you find them and catch them you simply have to have the best time of your life while fishing . I knew nothing about spider rigging for crappie all I've ever done was fish in small ponds with a minnow and a cork....I found this website starting looking through the forums and decided to sign up and ask a few questions....I came here knowing nothing but the people on here were like no other fishing forum id ever been on. I have taken everything that the good people on crappie.com have told me and taught my self how to catch crappie year round. If it wasn't for this site I wouldn't be the crappie fisherman I am today. Just since joining this site and asking a million questions and getting tons of positive feedback I have been able to catch my first crappie spider rigging, my first crankbait crappie and my personal best that's in the picture. None of this could have been done without having the help of crappie.com. I had no one to show me the ropes but all of the people on here helped out from styles of fishing to the gear I needed to do it. So in saying that, anybody who is a beginner crappie fisherman, the best advice that I can give you is to get on the crappie.com website ask questions and use the advice that your are given. Tons and tons of information to help you get started.

Slow down and then when you think you are going slow ...slow down some more

Ask questions, study the fish, and use chartreuse! Take a kid fishing!

Tag along with some crappie fishing guys and learn the techniques they use. Ask plenty of questions. If you have a chance take a kid fishing. They will be hooked for life.
