Thread: OK, we're going to have a virtual tournament, and we need rules.

Sounds like a great Idea. JMHO, but I think only 1-3 fish per day. A lot of work if you did 5 fish....for the entrants and Slab.

Ed (aka slab) need help working out the rules, let me know. Everyone needs to understand that it will be enough to keep track of a total of three fish total over the time of the contest. If this is a 30 days long, you would only be able to enter three fish total, and not three fish for every day you go fishing, in the thirty day period. Remember this can't happen right away, as there are some states, that are still ice covered, and they need to be able to use their boats too, and or bank fisherpersons can't fish right now either. My suggestion is that this happens at the start of May.

When do the lakes in the north "typically" thaw enough for a good crappie bite? I agree in that it should be during a time when the entire crappie.com group is on a fairly level playing field as far as the waters go.

Well how about you split up the tournament from north and south.If you wait until may our spawn is all but gone and the northern states its just starting just a thought.Middle of March thru middle of April is our best times.But Im in anyway it goes.

That makes a lot more sense. I was thinking that even a few fish a day would really add up.

My thought's on the north/south thing would be to NOT wait. You can always run a tournament now...and one later. If we try to wait around for perfect conditions for everyone, we won't ever have a tournament. Ya' know? Besides if running one sooner means fewer participants, that might be a good thing, to work out any kinks/problems.

Slab's got to decide what's best for him and the site. Whatever he decides I'll be happy with. He does a great job with this place.

Well if we do it for a month or 4 week period then looks like maybe 4 fish per person. But that may be too much??? A lot of folks on here.

3 fish entered with lengths added together.
2 day tourny...Saturday and Sunday...12 midnight Sunday deadline for submissions.
Code to be used in picture for verification.
Clearly marked ruler for measurment.

Same tournament, but break it down by state also. (2 tournaments in 1)

If things run smooth, there could be a weekend tournament each month. I think after the first one, more people would join in the fun the next time, and so on. I think the sounds like a good idea, and I would love to take part. After seeing the kind of fish some of ya'll catch, I doubt I will be much of a contender, but it will be fun know that when you are out fishing, you are competing with a large group of other crappie fishermen around the country.

Also, maybe some of the crappie.com sponsers would like to contribute by giving prizes. These prizes don't have to be anything expensive, just a few packs of jigs would be cool.
