We went down to Greers Ferry Lake for three days. Had to take the fishing boat along even though the temperatures would be in the upper 90. Decided to try trolling some crank baits for the first time.
Trolled a while till i found a cove full of trees. It looked like a forest under the lake. There were trees in sixty feet of water ten feet from the surface.
Hooked up the 300 bandits and was trolling with the trolling motor at 1.5 mph and you could see the poles bend when the crank baits would hit the top of the trees. My wife wanted to grab the pole every time it would hit the trees. I did pretty good since I only lost one crank bait. I was amazed how the crank baits would hit the trees and the pole would bed and finally it would come loose.
Barb was excited about catching crappie this way. Did catch some nice ones. Went back after that in the area where i would catch the crappie and went jigging and caught the 16" crappie and some other ones. Didn't have a scale but it looked like it would go at 2 lbs. This lake was a very clear lake like Bull Shoals and a tough lake to crappie fish. Didn't see any one else crappie fishing.
