• Why Crappie.com has been good to me...

As an avid crappie angler and once diehard tournament fisherman, I needed an out to express and share my fishing adventures. I知 a middle aged divorced man, children grown, night and weekend worker, due to this, I知 left with a lot of alone time. I have always found solace in fishing; I知 not your everyday kick back and relax fishermen, I知 a search and destroy guy who relishes every opportunity, every minute I have when on the water. I pride myself as being a well-rounded crappie angler able to use most techniques that are favored by today痴 anglers.

One evening while searching the web, I stumbled upon Crappie.com, I entered the site not knowing what to expect. My eyes were glued to the screen as I was engulfed by the reports and stories from anglers just like myself. I read report after report, scanned the many quality pictures of the great, and not so great catches and knew that this was exactly what I had been looking for.

I signed up that night, and have been a nightly visitor ever since. I enjoy sharing in all my glory when things go right, but I also enjoy posting those humbling trips that remind you that some days you are fishing, whiles others you are catching.

The one thing that this sight offers that few speak of is the camaraderie. I have made many, many online friends. Some of these have turned into personal friendships. Not having children that are real interested in fishing, this sight gives me an opportunity to share my many years experience, to express upon others knowledge or information they may find valuable to making them understand this beloved species of fish we all chase relentlessly.

Thank you Crappie.com for giving me this outlet that has become an important part of my life.

That was the way it was for me when I first joined and still is. Slab used to have a few problems keeping it up and running. I would go through withdrawals. I don't get to fish like I once did. But, I can find plenty of advice, reports, someone to be my friend, or someone to argue with all right here.
It is a way of life and I and glad Slab is living the American dream for it.

Same experience for me. Great way to connect with people who share the same passion for fishing as I do.

Though my situation is some different, I deal with a lot of solo time myself. CDC has changed the way I fish and look at fishing. So many good folks from all walks of life make it a true pleasure to visit the site and check up on friends, many of which I may never meet. Good read, glad it filled the void for you.

Ink, I have also worked shift(33 yrs), been divorced and gone through some lonely times. I say that so you understand that I feel you. But I want to tell you my life changed 10 years ago when I met my best friend, my wonderful wife. She is the most kind and sweetest person that I have known. I am a better man because of her. I tell people I have always felt unlucky, but was paid the grand prize the day we met. I hope the same for you, the satisfaction of feeling like you have the grand prize. As far as c.c, 1st thing everyday I go to the sight, last thing every night I'm on the sight, and a hundred times in between. That's all I have to say about how I feel about c.c. Thanks to the gubers that made the sight and keep it going. Anytime, if you feel like pm me. By the way been retired 2.5 yrs, still trouble sleeping normally. Danny

Many thanks to all that have taken the time to read and or comment. This short story was written as a contest entrant, but to tell you the truth, it was more therapeutic. As most men tend to do, I keep my personal feelings personal. There is a sense of relief when you get things off your chest, another plus for CDC and its members!
