"Just curious, do most of you guys that pull cranks have a whole other set of rods for pulling cranks or do you just use the same ones you troll with, also I can see that if your pulling from the side of the boat you would have to have different lengths of rods but if your pulling from the back do you just use all the same length???? " asked GitDaGrease

    ScottV replied as follows:

I use separate rods with line counter reels for pulling cranks. The rods need to be a little stiffer but you could get by with using whatever you've got. I pull from the back, three rods on each side. I have 8' trolling rods next to the motor and angled up at 45 degrees to prevent the fish from pulling the rod out of the holder. Then I have 12' rods, followed by 14' rods. I have them positioned to have around 4' of line separation. It's easier to make turns when pulling from the rear of the boat.

Also I usually push with two rods from the front of the boat. If I'm really bored, I'll also run a planer board off each side.

Not a real good pic to show my way of pullin from the back, but maybe u can get pte idea.
I use 14ft trolling rods on each outside, 7 ft next and 10 ft bout 10 degrees off of straight out the back.
I have two sets of poles. One for pullin/pushing and one for spyder riggin.

I thought this was an interesting conversation I found on the forums, and it had some good pictures too, so I created this little "new style" article out of it.
