Camped at the Hill this weekend. Started fishing Friday afternoon and only caught a few. Mainly fished in the shallows, hoping they were there. Saturday morning I had to return home for a few hours of work, but was back on the water with the family shortly after lunch. Everyone wanted to fish, which was a welcome change. My 6 year old daughter was excited, which made me excited, but also put the pressure on to keep her interested. Longlined a few hours only catching a few, but they stayed interested.

Kept busy by keeping tabs on the fish also.

When I needed to retie, I let the kids pick the color. Elizabeth picked a purple/black/chartreuse tail, I think is called purple rain. This turned out to be a good choice. Her first two fish Sat. pm came off the one she picked to put on. Sunday morning the wife decided they should sleep in. I left at the crack of day hoping to hear a turkey and catch a fish. Tried shallow-nothing. Began trolling in the back of the creek and caught 6 in around an hour. Got slower and began working my way out. Called the wife to see if anyone wanted to fish and William did. While on the phone the rod I put the purple rain jig on went down. Got the wife off the phone and pulled in a 2.25 lber. Reeled them all in and off to get William I went. He jumped in the boat and was super excited to see the big fish. This is when I let my mouth overload my wallet. I told him that if he caught one that big today I would get it mounted for his wall. First fish was his personal best at 1.54lbs.

This fish bit a purple rain also. Another fish or two on the same color and we began changing em out everytime we pulled debris off of one. a few minutes later and he had my wallet worried when this came over the side at 2.09lbs.

Made another circle and this came over the side.

Yep, goin on the wall. Tried to talk him out of it, but I had already let my mouth overload my wallet. Weighed 2.33. A few more fish later and William wanted another 2 lber. I told him people fish a long time without ever catching one and he had caught 2 in 30-40 minutes. Several more fish around 1.5. Only weighed one more and it was 1.82. 3 fish over 2lbs in less than 3 hours is pretty good in my book. Elizabeth was happy also as all but one of the fish caught the last 2 hours was on her purple jig. These fish were in 8-20 fow. pulling 1/32 round heads at .8-.9mph. Water was 56-59 and we were headed home at lunch. Couple more pics for Butch, as we all know how much he likes them.

And my favorite pic of one of my best days fishing with my favorite fishing partners.
