• Bank Fishing Report, Clear Pond at Mallard-Fox Creek

Had a couple of hours this afternoon to fish. Went to what I grew up hearing my dad and granddad call Clear Pond on Mallard-Fox Creek WMA. It’s the small body of water behind Nucor separate from the river. Water is pretty shallow, clear and full of grass and brush. I found about a 50 foot diameter area from the bank holding a bunch of crappie. I had to leave biting fish to get home, but did keep 24 and returned probably 10-15 short fish. Largest was 13”. Jig and bobber about 12-18 inches deep, pearl white Bobby Garland and silver/white Crappie Magnet.

It was a unique place to catch crappie with the water being so clear, several fish you could see strike the lure.

That’s a nice bowl full of groceries. Pretty cool fishing areas you father and grandfather fished. I’d love to be able to see fish strike, only seen that a couple of times. Our water is pretty muddy usually. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome post. Awesome to find success like that in a pond.

I fish a lot of different kind of ponds/lakes and our most consistant producer is less than 30 acres and we ketch big crappie and a lot of them plus big bass. So good on you and especially ketchn from a place your Gramps and dad talked about? Priceless. Looks and sounds like one heck of a enjoyable day.
