• Bon Temps & I on The Pearl Today

Well a slow start is the understatement of the day. 46 degree tidal surface water temps relocates the crappie. We continued to move to warmer waters till Jackpot, Bon Temps pulls up the first Crappie and its a keeper. Today was a very good day for explaining why we were not catching or even seeing fish. As we moved to warmer water we saw fish. As we moved to some of my Special Spots we caught fish. BGBS Red Thunder and Jason's Jigs Jason's 2in Stinger Shad (in a custom color I have made) were the bodies of choice. As the water got warmer the fish got higher up. Here are a couple of pictures of the day Bon Temps holding the biggest fish and a cooler shot. The Navy Seal boats buzzed by us so we decided to load up and head in.

We had a great time, got to visit about making Mead when Crappie school was in recess, and returned safely to the dock. Just a great day.

Maybe those Seals were looking for a crappie handout.

When the Gun Boats pass on plane they are usually 2-4 boats in a row. Well the wake they throw times 4 is totally unmanageable and best to just get out of their way. Now they will slow if they see you but the nature of River Crappie fishing is you're half hidden quite often. Lots of stories of broken boats to broken legs from these massive boat wakes in a compounded fashion. We usually can fish covered areas where the wakes can't get to us but the recent cool down of the water along with 2ft+ tides has moved most all the fish out to the main waterways where the Seal Boats run.

I used to ride in those boats and they are one awesome ride. Takes a skilled coxswain for sure. I have fond memories. Thanks for sharing and congratulations to y’all.
