I went fishing with my buddy Lowe at Lake Wedowee for about 7 hours starting to learn dock and brush pile fishing. We caught around 70 (1 spotted bass thrown back) and kept 54 crappies and a bluegill. I also got my first magnolia crappie (also called black nosed crappie). Had a great time and it is the most I have ever caught! My wife told me not to come back home with another fish unless I get a freezer or another fridge/freezer There was about a 30 minute window in the afternoon that crappie really started biting. Some of them smoked it but Lowe said not on fire yet.
    Thanks again Lowe!

I am now gonna start journalling my trips so I can reflect on it during different seasons. I am not sure how well it will work or how well I will keep up with it (HA!) but want to try. Does anyone else do this?

    Fishing Time: 09:55-5:10 pm
    The weather during fishing time
    Air Temp 60-70 degrees
    Wind 5-9 mph
    Gust 5-19mph
    Pressure 29.91 falling to 29.87

Ahh Haa, a bream that wants to grow up to be a crappie. Thanks for a good post.

I have fished my whole life. Salt water till just a few years ago. I never kept a journal. However, I am starting a journal for crappie fishing because I am learning that this is a thinking man’s game pursuing the Elusive Sacalait Species.

I hope by recording things like wind speed and direction
BP movement, tidal flow, water temperature, moon phase, and best jig size and color I’ll be able to see some sort of pattern for the places I fish often.

      Bon Temps!!
