My bride and I decided to take a short fishcation to another new to us lake here in the Buckeye State. Our journey started Sunday afternoon after homecoming at church. This lake is only 2 hours from home so on the way up we decided that one day trips aren’t out of the realm of possibilities.
Our cabin rental was in the vacation cabins and ours was cabin number VC-05. It’s a nice small cabin with 2 bedrooms, dining/living area, kitchen and bathroom with a shower. There is also a screened in porch with picnic table for outside gatherings. Just behind the cabin is a fire ring and charcoal grill. There is satellite TV but no internet. The only drawback was the dumpster located about 50 yards from then cabin. It’s stinks awful and although you cannot smell it at the cabin it’s awful when messing around the truck or boat.
So we fished two days pulling cranks. We just couldn’t locate the crappie and those that we caught were in the 5-7 inch range. I didn’t think to take a photo for the micro fish thread. We caught white bass, catfish and crappie. We caught a nice blue that actually didn’t hook himself. He hit the bait (assumption) and of course rolled. The 12lb fluorocarbon line wrapped around him and the line went in between the treble hook and cinched tight.
We had a good time as the lake didn’t have much boat traffic and Lil D did most of the trolling motor control. Just a nice quiet adventure for my bride and I. Love to catch fish but sometimes the togetherness is more precious.
Air temps both days over Ed around 68-70 degrees and the water temperature was 74. I suspect it’s a heavily fished lake and I know that its recreational use is off the chart.
