• After work trip

Might have set a record for a high temperature around these parts today and I was crazy enough to head for the lake after work! Wife just shook her head, smiled and said, "take enough water".
    Yes, dear........and off I went.
Air temp had come down to 87, water temp was about 83. Slightest breeze to start off with and it would soon die off leaving near dead calm water. Launched and set up about 4:50 and the first bluegill was in the boat about 2 minutes later, a hard fighting 8"er.

I'd row around for nearly an hour, only landing a couple more average bluegills of around 7" or so. I worked my way over to a drop off near a weed bed and landed the 1st crappie of the night.

Repeated casts back around that area only got me a small bass. I headed out looking for some bigger groups but not much success with that over the basin in water up to 30' or so deep. I had a pretty hard thermocline at 19' in the deeper water and was looking for suspended fish.
I finally eased over to some shallower water, between 9 and 15' deep and found a lot of average bluegill and small bass. Probably could have filled the boat with the smaller, active sunnies but they weren't what I was looking for. By now it was about 6:45 and I went up along the contour, out a bit deeper in about 20' or so. Breeze came up enough to ruffle the surface a bit and I finally began to see some stacked fish on the sonar. Over the next 20 minutes or so I boated 5-6 more good crappies, all 10-12". Here's a few pics of them.

I trolled around a bit more, landing some nicer 'gills of 8-8 1/2" before calling it a night at 7:35. The clicking abacus recorded 25 total fish getting released as all were returned for another time.
