• Buck’s Gold Jig Pole Review

I recently was given the opportunity to test and review the 10’ BnM Bucks Gold Jig Pole. When I first received it, I noticed the beautiful colors of the rod and the nicer components on it. This clearly was a step up from the regular Buck’s Jig Pole. I assembled the two piece rod and twitched it some to get a feel. Ooohh, it felt a little whippy from what I’m used to for a jig pole. I kept an open mind and fished it.

I’ve fished it almost every weekend for two months now. The rod is lightweight, smooth and sensitive. It’s also very durable. I caught and landed a nice catfish and even though the rod doubled over and I thought would snap, it held and did wonderfully. Really, every fish is a joy to catch on this rod as it makes them all seem huge. Buck’s Gold Jig Pole is a very fun rod to fish.

For jigging brush and structure I do use a stiffer rod to help pull the fish out of the cover. But by having the stiffer rod and heavy line you horse the fish and it loses much of the fight. Buck’s Gold Jig Pole keeps the fight in the catch and it’s a blast. Personally, I like this rod more for casting and general fishing. The rod casts decently and to me is ideal for fishing Road Runners. It’s fun to cast and hook up with a fish which gives you plenty of time to enjoy the fight and catch. It’s a welcomed change from just yanking them out of the water.

Overall, if you like Buck’s Jig Pole then Buck’s Gold Jig Pole is a nice quality step up. It fishes good, is lightweight and gives a sporty chance to the fish. Give it a try, you might find it’s golden!

Very good rods and I agree, a good step up from my BGJP’s. Better guides too. Good report Dave.

have a 10 ft BnM jig pole and enjoy fishing with it, especially around docks when I need to drop jig in certain spots and need the length. Favorite right now is Sam Heaton 7 foot super sensitive which is really fun to fish with.
