All lakes are up over a foot due to torrentail rains. Fish are in deeper water near pads and numbers easy to come by. In fact 69 yesterday. As most of you know, lure variety is the major reason I fish hoping I'll find special shapes and actions I can count on in the future, if not confirm the ones that did well in the past.
Shapes that did good: Softie plastic worm, spike-tail, Berkley Ribbon Tail, carrot stick, and fork-fin tail
There are more, but you get the picture.
My belief when it comes to lures:
Fish don't strike lures because they represent live bait, but because they don't! JMHO
Note the vaious shapes and sizes. Fish pounded those lures all with different actions.
Any lure/prey correlation is the product of angler imagination or the sales dept. and a reduction of lure variety potential to say the least .
