Phil Gawthrop and I had a great morning of crappie fishing and I have proof that I am the Drumking. Check the photos below. Grin. But as the title of this thread suggests, the crappie were very color specific today, at least on our lake and we fished about 5 miles of water.
I had Phil on the hot color, Lights Out Slab Slayer, with Slab sauce and the fish ate them up. I, on the other hand was busy changing colors to see if we could get them to bite other colors and they were having nothing of it. We managed to get 3 fish over a one man limit of 15 keeper sized crappie. Phil’s biggest fish was 1/16 of an inch short of a tarp sized crappie.
We got into a very brief bass jump and landed one that was 15.5” so it went home to my wife, Wanda. Bass is her favorite fish to eat. I get fussed at if I throw one back. Lolol
Chickamauga was flowing 13K and the surface temp was 84. We caught all fish along the Tennessee river portion of the reservoir and our last two fish were caught on a bluff in deep water. Actually, most of the fish were deep except for a handful that we caught before it was light enough to even see the line.
