• Good crappie morning

All the stars must have been in proper alignment when Biofisher and I went fishing this morning. We had a great time catching crappie and yellow bass with 19 keeper crappie and 13 yellow bass ending up in the livewell.

We had a limit by 8:15, but only had 4 more keepers in the next 3 hours, however we did catch many that were just short of the legal limit size of 10”. We fished an offshore structure on the main river and the fish had moved up on the flat adjacent to the main channel.

The flat was 15 feet deep and all the fish were very near the bottom. We would occasionally hook a stump and if we could pop the jig off without breaking the line, a crappie would almost immediately hit the jig. The fish would bite any color this morning, I stayed with MoGlo Outlaw Special Slab Slayer and Gary stayed with BG baby Shad in blue Thunder and bluegrass. We kept the boat in 22-23 feet of water right along the drop off into 40 feet of water.

After the crappie bite died there must have been a school of yellow bass move in and they aggravated us to pieces until we finally figured out how to get them to commit to our jigs. We shortened the plastics just a little bite and that did the trick. We quit a little after eleven.
