• If It Gets Much Better

I’ll have to sit in my hands to keep from waving at everybody!!! I met up with Slimjim and Nino at the ramp before seven with each of us in our own boats. The wind was forecast to be low at 4 and while it was low early on, it wasn’t 4. We all launched and gathered in the harbor area and we eased out into the mostly overcast sunrise. It was pretty and a bit chilly at right around 50. Hit the fishing grounds, now full light, and started putting rods out. Thanks to M R Dux, I now had the baseplates for my rear holders and was running 8 rods today. I didn’t get all of them out and the first one went down. I like it when things go as you hoped they would. Changed colors some and found that red and orange tails were working for me today. There wasn’t any time to reach for my coffee without a rod going down til about 8:15. Then the sun came out from behind the clouds for a little while and the fish slowed way down for a bit. By this time I had 4 in the box and not wanting a limit today I was throwing 11’s back. It took about an hour maybe for the bite to pick back up from one here and one there, and then it was on again. I had three rods go down within seconds of each other at one point with two being released keepers and one short. By now the wind had laid down and the temps had risen and is was downright pleasant. The three of us stayed close and called and hollered back and forth and generally had one heck of a time out there. Nino hollered the one time that he was having a blast. Jim’s net rides a vertical rod holder and got put to use quite a bit. I was having a good time and stayed busier than I’ve been in a while, now releasing the most of what I caught, even 12”+. Just after 11 we packed up and headed in. Nino had some filleting to do at my house and we’d had enough. Took a few pics and talked back and forth for half an hour or so, just enjoying the weather and the company and the great day we’d had. Jim made it even better when he broke out some of Paula’s muffins, couldn’t be beat! I had 9 in the box and released 25 or so, lots of them keepers in normal times. 5 of mine were given to the old woman fishing at the dock and Nino gave her all of his too. She had a bunch and hadn’t been fishing for 15 minutes! Nino and I filleted my four and he carried them home. I can’t remember a day as comfortable and full of fish and good times as we shared today, I’ll remember it for a long time. I hope y’all get out and find some soon cuz they’re shorenuf bitin. Holler if you see me out and enjoy the pics…….Skeet

What a Awesome trip, to hang close enough to holler but still be too busy for Coffee! I don't and won't let much get between Me and my Coffee but this would be worth it. Thanks for posting the sunny day pictures, I thought we still had a sun but it's been hiding around here lately.
