It's been tough for me the last few months catching slabs. The normal spots just haven't been producing. Ice finally melted a couple days ago so I checked out a couple county lakes I hadn't fished in awhile. It rained the night before and lake #1 was cold and murky and produced one small bass and a gill in two hours. Moved to another lake close by and it was super low. Walked to the north end of the lake since the wind was blowing out of the south. Wasn't expecting much because this lake the last couple of years was very slow, only caught six crappie in a dozen trips last year. Fishing a duck feather jig under a small weighted float 1.5 foot deep letting the wind do most of the work and down goes the float. First slab of the year, a couple of pics and let her go. In the next hour I caught 15 more crappie, 11 would have been keepers with the biggest one right at 15". I released them all. Wind started blowing harder and was getting hungry so it was time to go.
