• Kayak Trip Report, Cotaco Creek

I fished Cotaco today keeping a half limit and returning 20 or 25 larger Crappie and a dozen short fish. Good day on the water. All fish came between the bridge at Sharps Ford and the river, no fish caught about the bridge. The water was clear with visibility of about 24 inches at the mouth of Cotaco and the river. Cloudier back up stream but still with visibility of at least 12 inches. Th water was 52 degrees at the mouth and in the upper 40's above the bridge.

I stopped at Bass Pro Shops in Birmingham (Leeds) on the way home yesterday and picked up some Pink and Chartreuse tube jigs on a whim. Not sure why, sure didn't need any more tackle, but they looked "fishy". I put one on a 1/32oz jig head and caught Crappie, Gills and Bass everywhere I shook it today, LOL! Most fish came in about 6 feet of water but found some as shallow as three to four feet all off my 10-foot jig pole.

Lots of folks on the water, talked with several Crappie.com forum members today. One of the most beautiful November afternoons I can remember.
