We left the lakes to the Holiday lake lice Saturday,Sunday midday on, and Monday. We decided to slip away today and do what Vicki does best, pull crankbaits.
We got an early start to try to set up a pattern. This year on KY Lake the pattern has changed almost daily. We covered a bunch of water to find a fish here, a fish there.
Catfish wore us out and since Vicki hates them once they hit the net, she had fun fighting them.
I managed to find some nice crappie and Vicki did her part.
Her big fish was a spawned-out 16 inch white crappie. It hammered a Pico Peanut Butter and Jelly INT crank. It went with some 14 inchers as well as smaller eaters. That 16 incher cost me a reproduction crappie mount. She caught a 16.5 incher last year on Barkley and wasn’t going to let me get away without putting a repro mount on her office wall.
Now she won’t let me go another summer without taking her to Grenada and Enid. We are scheduled in a couple of weeks.
