• All Trolling rods are not the same - By "G"

Whether your long lining, spider rigging, or pulling cranks you need a rod thats suited to that style of fishing. I had been using B'n'M PST's for pulling crank baits and they are a great rod for this....just the right amount of stiffness etc. But I tried using them for spider rigging as some folks do. Everybody has their own preference on crappie rods and I just thought the PST's were a little too stiff in the tips for my satisfaction.

I really think I was missing lots of fish because I could not see the bite. I tried several other rods for this method of fishing and still was not happy.

I then got some B'n'M Capps and Coleman rods in 14 ft. and my catch rate improved...the tip sections being more limber helped me to better see light bites while spider rigging. These rods are great and I really like them and recommend them to anyone that is getting started in spider rigging or slow trolling.

They are still tough enough and handle that occasional white bass or catfish without any problem.

So now I have a full set of B'n'M PST's to pull crank baits with and a set of
Capps and Coleman's to spider rig with, and of course I have a couple of B'n'M Sam Heatons in 10 ft and 12 ft. to single pole with.

    You just can't beat B'n'M.

I also love the b-n-m rods. Now that I have a boat I might pull a crankbait one day. Good article David.
