Well have the B-n-L coming to town, so I'd thought I would scout some other waters. Thursday went to a old favorite Harney & for the 1st time in memory /no trolling poles, just 2 jigging. Caught 9 or so in 10 fow @ the 46 bridge, only 1 keeper, so went through the rest of the river up to lake entrance for 3 more hrs without a bite. Can tell my attention span started to wander, taking picks of some grazing on-lookers. So packed it in & went to Jesup, for a few hrs to finish the day. Found 8 boats over were I'd been catching lately, so bypassed the crowd & checked near by pads. Found dead tilapia & some of the fry hatch floating, guess some of the low forty degree nights cold shocked some fish. Also noticed the lack of shoreline activity. Decided to try a area I haven't been in the thick bulrush cane & snatched up some decent fish in a hr time, so thought things were in place for Friday's scheduled trip in Bearlake Slab daddy's boat....Well day 2, we started in the cane & only managed a couple, so it was agreed if we didn't catch 6 in a hr, we'd move on, no takers in a quick pass through the wood, & only a couple in the pads, so thankfully Leonard had his trolling equipment in tow & we tried near shore. Was slow as well, till 1 pm, then hit a quick few, including a 1#11oz 14 1/2" fish. Told Leonard it's a good fish most anywhere, however, just about as good as they come on Jesup, so the 13 Friday & 9 Thursday all got released as we both didn't feel like cleaning. No complaints, what so ever, been a good 2 month run on this shallow bite for this lake. It's fading, but the next moon phase should bring the last spawners in, hope your getting out on your favorite lake/river & lowering the water levels, till next time keep in the faith!
