I got an invitation from Mongoose77 to join him on a fishing trip on his boat. He said that he runs 18 to 20 rods. I could not pass this up !
We met at the boat ramp and headed out as the sun was starting to come up. There was no wind at all. Dead calm. Some say that they like it better with a little chop on the water but I like it when it is calm and I have full control of the boat.
Larry started to set out the rods. 10 across the back and 8 up front. I got to sit in the front and was able to watch all the rods. The water temp had dropped and there were reports of the fish moving into the weeds, but with our set-up we were going to long line out in the main lake. ( if they were still there ).
It was not long before the first rod goes off. I bring a nice 13 inch fish on board. In fact I got to bring in the first 3 fish before the back rods start to get in the game.
most of the fish we caught were over 11 inches ( our min. keeping size) with only about 3 undersized crappie going back. but we did have a surprise visiter or two.
All in all we ended up with 12 nice fish to take home. I kept my 3 fish limit and Larry kept the rest. The big fish of the day was brought in by Larry at 14 inches and almost 2 pounds.
Thanks for the invite Larry, I really enjoyed our trip and seeing how you do your set up. I think that I learned a couple of new things .
Until next time,
tight lines and full nets
see you on the water
Jim
