I was invited to visit a new to me pond in the middle of really really no where .
Was told big black crappie were biting in there just last week .
Got there after a bit of dirt work driving .
Was also told a large church group was camping on the ranch this weekend .
Rolled up to find about 15 or 20 teenagers jumping off the dock swimming in it !
Thought well so much for that right .........
Waited them out from the far side of the pond a bit , knew as cold as the water was they wouldn't last long .
Sure enough about 30 minutes and they went on their cold way back to base camp .
Left me all alone and I pondered a bit .......
Thought to myself , that dock they were jumping off of was were I was told the big black crappie were hanging around .
Wonder how long it will take for the fish to settle after that much ruckus ?
About maybe 10 minutes is the answer
The bad news is after ketchn some of what looked like all the species in that there pond .
NEVER seen a single black crappie
Fish bit on the first drop and I left them biting on said dock when some of the teens returned to fish off the dock about 45 minutes later .
There might be a black crappie in there and I was told there were some real big crappie in there . But I failed to capture any of them if it is so .
The good news is nothing in there bit soft and they all thumped my jig hard as rock !
Sure was about a beautiful pond about 3 acres in size nestled right up against a large hill .
Tempted to take my john boat out there and really get after them fish in there .
bet undisturbed it is a ketch festival , had something eat my float on the far bank when I was waiting them kids out !
Until that date arrives , stay tuned and for sure as always ....
KABOOM is the word
p.s. seemed to be overpopulated ,with less than fat fish , was told after the fact I was supposed to keep all the fish I ketched ....
and yes in some of the images you can see a deer feeder up on the hill across from the dock .
