• Little relaxing evening trip.

I had a couple of hours to kill after chores were done before the weekend work schedule kicked in. Hooked up and off I went. I wasn't planning on scouting any, just headed to a reliable spot where I have caught fish in all seasons. This spot is a typical crappie location. Numerous and easy to see on a map, creek channel bends. If you find one with some depth to it holding fish, it will be a consistent producer. I didn't set any records in numbers, I caught keepers 4 on subsequent casts then they shut off. I changed colors and went to a little heavier weight, no takers on it. I went back to my original offering with a slightly lighter weight and managed one more. With the sun setting and the fish shut down, with a weekend of work looming I headed back to the house. Water temps s in the mid 80°. They were generating pulling water, I didn't think to look at the flow. Fish seemed to be on the down stream side of the bend ambushing bait as it washed up the rise in the creek channel. Most of the fish caught seemed to be around 12-14 feet down, the creek has a depth of about 25 feet.

Good job. Sometimes we just have to take what we can when we can. Pretty crappie.
