• 1lb-er line part 2….

Hello fellow panfishers, here’s a final thought on using an extremely small line: Sufix Ice Magic ( there are other brands ) 1lb test mono ice fishing line for your ultralight angling nirvana! But first be warned it’s NOT the line to be taken lightly, it’s got its downsides as much as its pluses. The last couple days that what I’ve been doing….fishing exclusively this 1lb test paired to an Abu Garcia in XUL (line 0.8 to 3.5) guise and Daiwa 1003 size reel. You could say I finally reach the pinnacle of ultralight fishing….if anyone fishing lighter I surely would love to learn. I can say based on the water I was at these last 2 summer days with bottom vegetation and surface slimes the Sufix 1lb-er passed with flying colors. As many members here know that American brand line breaking strength are not what they are described….they usually higher, and that’s alone it’s to my advantage because I also intend to pair it to my JDM Tict Rockin Finesse which coincidentally has the smallest guides I’ve ever encounter and max line rating of 2.5lb test. That’s insanely light even for a ultralight setup ( comparing to American UL specs.) Using such small line does 3 things for me, protect my (to me) expensive rod, allow me to “feel” the bite better than thicker line and also has zero memory ( no coil.)The downside is it’s hard to see, hard to handle and it’s weaker proning to damage ( loosing lures.) So why use it then you ask? Well unlike many lucky Midwestern anglers here who’s home water happens to contain big fishes in the mix of crappies and bluegills, we here in Clark county NV glad to have these little man-made compoundment managed as “Put-N-Take” lake, a piece of fishing paradise we like to call our local ponds. They are highly pressured but important non the less as part of our fishing community. But the main reason for giving these type of line a chance for catching anything is the challenge….seeing NOT how many fish you can catch but how many fish you trying not to lose in the process. Kind of like hunting for quails with .22lr instead of shotgun so to speak… lol. Thanks for looking and enjoy the pictures.
