You have to admire someone, especially a female that will sit and fish in the rain with you. It wasn’t supposed to rain this morning according to our lying radar and weatherman, so Candi didn’t bring her raincoat.
We started off in bright sunlight and I was complaining about leaving my sunglasses in the truck, but after a couple of hours it began to slowly cloud up and the fish were biting well enough for us not to pay attention to the coming rain squall.
We had several good keepers in the livewell that we promised one of Candi’s friends and when we looked up and saw a rain storm on the horizon about a mile away, of course, we were the farthest from the ramp that we were all day. I thought that I could get around it, but it was more wide spread that we thought.
I had a rain suit in my boat but Candi didn’t bring one, so after getting her soaked, I offered her my top that was still in the box (Dummy driving the boat didn’t stop to put it on until soaked), so she grabbed it out of the bag it was in and covered up into a ball as rain was pelting us pretty good by this time. I wish that I had made a video of her riding down the lake like that.
After we got wet, we pulled onto a spot that I found yesterday that had a few fish on it and caught a couple more crappie and Candi caught a tiny Flathead catfish. That is the second tiny Flathead in two days.
Report: Early fish were in grass and would take our baits just as it came out of the grass. Later on, the fish were deep, that is over 10 feet and closer to 20. Mo Glo Bobby Garland baits were tops today. Enjoy the pics.
